Relish the thrill of flying in a North American T-6 Texan, the World War II vintage fighter-trainer aircraft. This two-place, dual controlled, single engine ex-military trainer is steeped in history. During the course of the flight you will be offered the chance to take control of the aeroplane and experience for yourself the challenges faced by so many young cadets. Your aerial tour starts at Alcester, with a stunning aerial view of Ragley Hall. Then you head towards Broadway, circling over Broadway Tower, before continuing your flight towards Winchcombe, where we come to the most impressive sight of all on our flight - Sudeley Castle. You will circle to allow everyone a great view of this beautiful Cotswold castle, before setting course over the nearby Cotswold hills, to Stow-on the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh, flying high over the Cotswold scenery and the villages below. Tail chase through the skies in an adrenalin-fuelled blast where you get to go head to head with your opponent. Powered by a 300bhp Lycoming engine, the Extra 300 is an ultra light weight, state of the art, high technology display aircraft. During your thrilling flight you’ll be able to take the controls and experience the manoeuvring capabilities of the 300, fly basic aerobatics and learn how to tail chase, if that wasn’t enough you’ll also be playing ‘shoot the bandit’ whilst airborne! Immersed in the atmosphere of the Imperial War Museum Duxford, this package makes for an extra special day. First is a hands-on flying lesson in the open cockpit of a Tiger Moth, the classic bi-plane, after which you will be able to get behind the wheel of an armoured military vehicle. Next you can enjoy a flight in a Dragon Rapide over the beautiful city of Cambridge before returning to Duxford for a tour of its private aircraft collection. Location: Duxford (Cambridgeshire)Your day begins at 10am and will include the following: Tea and Biscuits in the Control Tower; Entry to all areas of the Imperial War Museum for the participant; Hands-on flying lesson in an open cockpit Tiger Moth, complete with loan of flying jacket, helmet and goggles; Professional photo taken beside your aircraft; Driving lesson in an armoured military vehicle; Flight over Cambridge in the Dragon Rapide; Guided tour of some of Duxford’s private aircraft collection; Buffet lunch in the Pilots Briefing Room;’Log Book’ flight certificate and celebratory glass of champagne. Your day will end at around 3.30pm.On purchasing this experience you will be issued with a voucher for TWO people valid for ten months. You are then free to arrange a day for your visit directly with the operator. Maximum weight 16 stone. Minimum age 16 years. A buffet lunch is provided for all participants on the day. Refreshments are available on site for spectators. Please note that spectators will have to pay to enter the museum and watch the experience, but at a half price rate.
