Powered by a 300bhp Lycoming engine, the Extra 300 is an ultra light weight, state of the art, high technology display aircraft. During your thrilling flight you’ll be able to take the controls and experience the manoeuvring capabilities of the 300, fly basic aerobatics and learn how to tail chase, if that wasn’t enough you’ll also be playing ‘shoot the bandit’ whilst airborne! Immersed in the atmosphere of the Imperial War Museum Duxford, this package makes for an extra special day. First is a hands-on flying lesson in the open cockpit of a Tiger Moth, the classic bi-plane, after which you will be able to get behind the wheel of an armoured military vehicle. Next you can enjoy a flight in a Dragon Rapide over the beautiful city of Cambridge before returning to Duxford for a tour of its private aircraft collection. Location: Duxford (Cambridgeshire)Your day begins at 10am and will include the following: Tea and Biscuits in the Control Tower; Entry to all areas of the Imperial War Museum for the participant; Hands-on flying lesson in an open cockpit Tiger Moth, complete with loan of flying jacket, helmet and goggles; Professional photo taken beside your aircraft; Driving lesson in an armoured military vehicle; Flight over Cambridge in the Dragon Rapide; Guided tour of some of Duxford’s private aircraft collection; Buffet lunch in the Pilots Briefing Room;’Log Book’ flight certificate and celebratory glass of champagne. Your day will end at around 3.30pm.On purchasing this experience you will be issued with a voucher for TWO people valid for ten months. You are then free to arrange a day for your visit directly with the operator. Maximum weight 16 stone. Minimum age 16 years. A buffet lunch is provided for all participants on the day. Refreshments are available on site for spectators. Please note that spectators will have to pay to enter the museum and watch the experience, but at a half price rate. All flights are weather dependent and therefore subject to suitable flying conditions. It is essential to call the centre on the morning of your flight to check it will be going ahead. Feeling adventurous? This incredible away day is a must for anyone wanting to experience the thrill of really controlling a helicopter. Once in the air, you will have the chance to fly the helicopter yourself, while taking in an amazing bird's eye view of the beautiful Midlands countryside. Your training will take place in a two-seat Robinson R22, and this day is highly recommended for those seriously considering acquiring their Private Pilot's License (Helicopters). This 30 minute helicopter trial lesson is a perfect, unforgettable gift for a friend or relative (you could even treat yourself). On this experience, due to the size of the Helicopter you can even take two friends along for the ride! In every trial lesson the student has the opportunity to take control. Tuition is usually in a Robinson R44. All training helicopters have dual controls so the instructor can safely demonstrate and monitor the handling of the aircraft.
